About JFS
Jewish Family Service has been serving members of the Jewish and greater San Antonio Communities for more than 36 years. Founded by the Jewish Federation of San Antonio because of enormous demand for social services and mental health counseling, JFS quickly evolved into a highly respected agency that serves more than 2000 clients each year.
JFS is a private non-profit corporation holding the 501(c)(3) tax status. It offers case management, senior social services, and emergency financial assistance at no charge to clients. It provides more than 8500 hours of affordable mental health counseling annually by offering services on an income-based sliding fee scale, accepting third party payment, and providing free counseling to Victims of Crime.
JFS has locations on NW Military Highway, Mission Road, and at Temple Beth-El. All locations are accessible by public transportation.
JFS is able to offer services through the generous support of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, The Jewish Federation of San Antonio, Methodist Healthcare Ministries, a grant from the federal Victim of Crimes Act program, and the support of private foundations.
